Our Story, Our Mission, Our Ministry
A Sacred Ministry Serving Cincinnati Catholics Since 1948
Since 1948, Gate of Heaven Cemetery has served Catholic families throughout the Archdiocese of Cincinnati as a sacred place of burial, prayer, and ongoing remembrance. What began as farmland envisioned by Archbishop John Timothy McNicholas has grown into 160 acres of consecrated ground — a place where the faithful departed are laid to rest, and where families continue to return to pray, remember, and heal.
Rooted in the Church’s teaching on the resurrection of the body, our mission extends beyond burial itself. We walk with families through grief, partner with parishes and community organizations, and care for this ground with the same reverence shown by those who founded it nearly eight decades ago.

Gate of Heaven Cemetery, a Catholic Cemetery of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, is guided by the teachings of the Catholic Church – the corporal and spiritual works of mercy – ministering to the grieving by affirming our Catholic values through prayerful and dignified burial of the faithfully departed with the sacred Rites of Christian Burial.
