A Catholic Grief Support Group

Companions on a Journey

Companions on a Journey is an open grief group designed to offer support to adults who have suffered the death of a loved one.

We welcome you to join us at Gate of Heaven surrounded with love and support, the second Tuesday of every month, with Companions on a Journey’s “Caring For Your Grieving Soul” from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m., or 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, St. Peter’s Chapel, 11000 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, OH 45249.

Together, we help individuals to restore balance and find hope, strength, and healing.

Gate of Heaven Is Here To Accompany You Through Grief

Companions on a Journey is one of several ways we walk with families long after the funeral. Our cemetery ministry offers ongoing moments of prayer, remembrance, and healing throughout the year.

Memorial observances

Throughout the year, we hold special Masses and prayer services at the cemetery — including All Souls’ Day — where families can gather to pray for and remember their loved ones.

Memorial tributes

A memorial tree, bronze plaque, or personalized inscription can give grief a tangible home — a sacred place to return to, pray at, and find peace for years to come.

Parish connection

We work closely with parishes across the Archdiocese of Cincinnati to connect grieving families with local bereavement ministers and pastoral support within their own faith community.

Family Testimonials

It is beautiful and peaceful.

- James P.

I buried my husband at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. The staff at Gate of Heaven couldn’t have been nicer. I even received a birthday card in memory of him. The staff knows how hard it is losing a loved one.

My family and I especially appreciated your service for our family member recently buried. I can’t remember the name of the woman who seemed to be the main coordinator, but I felt that she deeply cared for all of us and went above and beyond to welcome and talk to everyone. She made me feel special and I know my Mom was looking down with a smile on her face.

The Month’s Mind Mass was wonderful and very comforting.
