Tidings of Comfort and Joy 2023
The title, “Tidings of Comfort and Joy,” resonates with holiday sentiments, yet at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, it symbolizes our ongoing commitment. “Tidings” embody a universal welcome extended to all. “Comfort” signifies sensitivity, compassion, dignity, and respect. “Joy” is rooted in our belief in the resurrection of Christ, offering a unique perspective on life now and the life yet to come.
Credit for the creative title and initiating our annual Advent gathering, “Tidings of Comfort and Joy,” goes to Kate Thesing, our outreach coordinator. Since its inception in 2021, this event, initially featuring school choirs and musicians, has steadily expanded each year.
On December 1, 2023, our Family Services Advisors warmly welcomed guests, embodying our mission of caring with sensitivity and compassion. The evening reflected our commitment to treating every person with dignity and respect. We thank our dedicated Family Services team for their welcoming hearts.
Raising the bar for 2023, we invited four choirs, delighting the audience with their performances. Sumptuous hors d’oeuvres and drinks added to the festive atmosphere. More than 200 guests gathered in our administration building for an evening of fellowship. This year, Deacon Tim Schutte, our community outreach and evangelization manager, introduced a ministerial dimension partnering with Pregnancy Center Plus to assist first-time parents with new car seats. We raised over $3,200 for the center, providing car seats for these precious little ones.
Mark your calendars for next year’s “Tiding of Comfort and Joy!”
