Honoring Life On Sacred Ground – Open House

Come and Celebrate the Good Things Happening at Gate of Heaven Cemetery!
Gate of Heave Cemetery is excited to announce our upcoming “Honoring Life on Sacred Ground – Open House,” on both Saturday, July 13 & Sunday, July 14 from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The weekend events will begin with the blessing of our new mausoleum, St. Padre Pio – St. Gertrude, on Saturday July 13 at noon. Archbishop Dennis Schnurr will preside at the blessing, and some wonderful vocalists from a few families of parishes will sing God’s word too!
From 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on both Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14 an Art Exhibit will be on display in the administration building. This exhibit features the art of Aaron Strait, an artistic savant whose breathtaking, miraculous paintings are a must see. Aaron will be joined by his mother Dawn Strait, who also is an accomplished artist. *Fifty percent of all art proceeds will be donated to Companions on a Journey, a nonprofit grief support organization. The donated proceeds will be used for high school educational material for teen suicide prevention. Companions on a Journey, work closely with high schools throughout Cincinnati supporting those who lost someone through death by suicide.
Also, on Saturday, July 13, there will be a “Tour of the Cemetery.” This guided tour will highlight some ordinary people who lived extraordinary lives. Tours are scheduled at 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Then on Sunday, July 14 there will be a “Tour of the Trees.” Arborist, Barbara DeNamur will tell the story of the majestic trees in sections one and two at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, along with touching upon some of the ordinary people that lived extraordinary lives that are interred in those sections. Tours are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
